Renters

Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency is pleased to offer a tool on our Web site to make it easy for renters to search for affordable and accessible housing.

The Pennsylvania Affordable Apartment Locator was developed as a resource to link consumers to affordable housing options throughout the Commonwealth. This Web site offers information about apartment locations, rental prices and subsidies, accessibility features, development amenities, current vacancies, contact information, and the status of a property’s waiting list. When available, maps and photographs of the property are also provided.

To date, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency has financed more than 65,000 affordable and/or accessible apartment units throughout Pennsylvania. And, we look forward to providing support and capital to help fund additional decent, safe, and affordable apartments for older adults, persons of modest means, and persons with special housing needs.

Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA)

Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency is pleased to offer a Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program which will provide a rental subsidy to eligible persons with disabilities and persons transitioning from a nursing home. TBRA is a bridge subsidy and may be provided for up to 24-months or until a permanent subsidy is received, whichever occurs first. TBRA recipients must be on the local housing authority's waiting list that serves the area where they want to reside. Eligible recipients of the TBRA subsidy will pay 30 percent of their adjusted income for rent. Additional eligibility requirements apply. Please contact PHFA at 717.780.3988 for additional information.
